Enmetazobactam API

Enmetazobactam API is a synthetic β-lactamase inhibitor belonging to the penicillanic acid sulfone class. It is designed to inhibit extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), thereby protecting susceptible β-lactam antibiotics from enzymatic degradation.

Enmetazobactam is used in combination with cefepime. The combination is marketed as Exblifep and provides an antibacterial treatment option for infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria producing certain β-lactamases.

What is Enmetazobactam?

Enmetazobactam, formerly known as AAI-101, is a β-lactamase inhibitor that has activity against a broad range of class A ESBLs, including CTX-M, TEM and SHV enzymes. By inhibiting these enzymes, Enmetazobactam helps protect cefepime from hydrolysis and restores its antibacterial activity against susceptible organisms.
