Dextrose Pellets are pharmaceutical-grade excipient pellets based on Dextrose (D-Glucose). They can be used as multiparticulate pellet cores for pharmaceutical formulation development, coating, layering and oral dosage-form applications.
Dextrose exists as either anhydrous dextrose or dextrose monohydrate. USP identifies anhydrous dextrose as C₆H₁₂O₆, CAS 50-99-7, with molecular weight 180.16 g/mol. Dextrose monohydrate has the formula C₆H₁₂O₆·H₂O, molecular weight 198.17 g/mol, and CAS 77938-63-7.
Dextrose-based spherical pellets are commercially used as pellet cores for active-ingredient layering and for sustained- or extended-release multiparticulate formulations. Commercially documented dextrose sphere sizes include approximately 180–250 µm through 1400–1700 µm, depending on the selected mesh grade.
Dextrose Pellets can be considered for:
Dextrose is purified D-glucose and occurs as anhydrous dextrose or dextrose monohydrate. USP describes dextrose as freely soluble in water, very soluble in boiling water and slightly soluble in alcohol.
For Dextrose Pellets, the finished product should be evaluated separately from the raw Dextrose excipient. Particle size, pellet shape, moisture, dextrose content and mechanical properties can vary according to the pelletization process and formulation.
Dextrose Pellets can be supplied according to the required dextrose form, particle-size range, quantity, packaging configuration and applicable product specification.
