Contezolid is a synthetic oxazolidinone-class antibacterial agent, also known by the development code MRX-I. It is designed to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by interfering with formation of the functional bacterial 70S initiation complex. Contezolid has activity against important Gram-positive bacterial pathogens.
Contezolid is an active pharmaceutical ingredient used in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing applications. It is identified by CAS No. 1112968-42-9, with the molecular formula C₁₈H₁₅F₃N₄O₄ and molecular weight approximately 408.33 g/mol.
Contezolid is also known by the synonyms MRX-I, MRX-1 and Youxitai. The compound has one defined stereocenter and is supplied as the specified stereochemical form of contezolid.
Contezolid belongs to the oxazolidinone antibiotic class and has been developed for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria. It has demonstrated antibacterial activity against organisms including Staphylococcus aureus, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Streptococcus species and enterococci.
Contezolid API can be supplied for pharmaceutical research, development and formulation requirements, subject to applicable quality specifications and regulatory requirements. Product documentation and batch-specific analytical information should be provided according to the applicable manufacturer specification.
Contezolid API quality control may include identity, assay, related substances, residual solvents, water content, residue on ignition and other applicable analytical parameters. Final acceptance criteria should be based on the approved product specification and validated analytical methods.
